Motability is a national UK charity. It helps disabled people and their families to achieve greater mobility on the road. Set up by the government in 1977, its aim is to provide vehicles and powered wheelchairs for disabled people.
The first Motability vehicle was supplied in 1978. Since then more than 1.35 million cars and powered wheelchairs have been provided. Now the Motability Scheme has more than 410,000 customers driving, or being driven on the road.
If you receive the Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance or the War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement, getting a new car is easier and more affordable than ever. Through Motability, you simply turn part or all of your allowance into the car of your choice.
Here at Renault we work closely with Motability and the scheme. Through this, disabled people are offered a range of Renault vehicles to suit their needs and increase their mobility.
Once a customer has chosen the Motability scheme and they wish to join, a vehicle is chosen and an application is placed, once accepted they then agree to assign all or part of their mobility allowance (DLA or WPMS) to Motability, this works by signing the equivalent of a direct debit form in favour of the scheme, as opposed to the whole amount being paid into the personal bank account.
Other than the signing we at Rogate take care of the whole thing, and no money is taken until your new car has been collected.
Included in the scheme;
All you do is add the fuel!!!

DRIVERS, NON DRIVERS, CARERS AND THE FAMILY
Our vehicles can be adapted and tailored to the driving needs of a disabled person. However, you don’t have to be a driver to qualify for one of the Motability schemes. Non drivers who receive the mobility allowance can obtain a vehicle as a passenger and propose up to two other people as permitted drivers (such as family or carers). Applications can also be made on behalf of a child, aged three and over, in receipt of the allowance.
